Siemens Energy is hiring a Data Engineer for its Siemens Gamesa business in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This full-time position requires at least eight years of experience in data engineering, particularly with cloud-based data platforms. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining reliable operational technology (OT) data pipelines that transfer data from wind farm SCADA systems to the Polaris cloud data lake.
The successful candidate will contribute to data architecture, pipeline performance, system reliability, and secure data transmission. The position also requires technical leadership, independent problem-solving, mentoring team members, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions that meet cybersecurity requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines to ingest OT data into the Polaris cloud data lake.
• Optimise and troubleshoot dataflows to maintain high performance, system stability, and data integrity for digital services.
• Implement secure data transmission solutions, including MQTT, for air-gapped and cybersecurity-sensitive environments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business data requirements into technical solutions.
• Integrate, optimise, and manage multiple data sources to support analytics and reporting.
• Troubleshoot complex data infrastructure issues to maintain system availability and reliability.
• Manage and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support efficient and reliable deployment of data solutions.
• Implement DevOps best practices, including infrastructure as code, automated testing, and configuration management.
• Monitor data pipelines, identify performance bottlenecks, and improve development efficiency and solution quality.
• Guide technical and architectural decisions for complex data engineering systems.
• Support knowledge sharing and mentor team members.
• Collaborate with the Data Ingestion and Data Operations teams to maintain secure, high-volume data environments.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least eight years of experience in data engineering, particularly with cloud-based data platforms.
• Previous senior or lead-level experience managing complex systems independently and mentoring teams.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, data integration, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Python, data lakes, and MQTT.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Git.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Strong ownership, accountability, collaboration, and mentoring capabilities.
Relevant Certifications:
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
• AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty.
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional.

The Data Operations team focuses on maintaining secure and stable OT data pipelines that support remote digital services. The team works collaboratively to ensure system reliability, share technical knowledge, and continuously improve data engineering operations in high-volume environments.
