Softobiz is hiring an experienced System Engineer-II for its IT Operations department in Hyderabad, Telangana. The position is responsible for maintaining and strengthening the organisation's IT infrastructure, network, end-user computing environment, and IT security.

The selected candidate will support an office environment serving more than 185 employees and work alongside the existing site IT engineer. The role requires the ability to manage site infrastructure independently when needed, handle complex Level 2 and Level 3 escalations, improve IT service delivery, and drive standardisation and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network and Infrastructure Management

• Administer and maintain site LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, switches, firewalls, and VPNs supporting more than 185 users.
• Configure firewall policies, VLANs, access rules, ISP connections, and network failover or redundancy.
• Manage Windows Server services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file and print services.
• Administer Microsoft Azure and Entra ID resources, including virtual machines, storage, networking, Network Security Groups, and conditional access.
• Monitor network, server, and bandwidth health; conduct root-cause analysis and capacity planning.
• Manage backup schedules, restoration testing, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity documentation.

2. End-User Computing and Microsoft 365

• Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, licensing, and email-flow security policies.
• Manage endpoints through Microsoft Intune or SCCM, including imaging, application deployment, compliance, and device policies.
• Drive monthly patch management and maintain antivirus and endpoint detection and response coverage.
• Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including laptop allocation, user accounts, access provisioning, and access revocation.

3. IT Support and Service Delivery

• Act as the Level 2 and Level 3 escalation point for complex and critical incidents at the Hyderabad office.
• Share the IT support ticket queue with the existing IT engineer and ensure service-level agreement adherence.
• Maintain continuous IT support coverage during leave, shift changes, and peak periods.
• Investigate recurring issues and implement permanent corrective measures.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports covering ticket volumes, SLA performance, and infrastructure health.
• Maintain the IT knowledge base and guide Level 1 helpdesk or support staff where applicable.

4. IT Security and Compliance

• Implement and enforce security baselines, access reviews, USB and data loss prevention controls, and password and multifactor authentication policies.
• Support internal and external ISO 27001 and SOC 2 audits by maintaining controls and preparing audit evidence.
• Respond to security incidents, phishing reports, and vulnerability findings within appropriate timelines.
• Maintain security compliance across systems, endpoints, identities, and network infrastructure.

5. IT Asset, Vendor, and Procurement Management

• Maintain accurate inventories of IT hardware, software, licences, and shared devices supporting more than 185 users.
• Manage the full IT asset lifecycle, including procurement, assignment, repair, refresh, and electronic-waste disposal.
• Coordinate with vendors for procurement, annual maintenance contracts, warranty renewals, and service-level agreements.
• Obtain vendor quotations and prepare comparisons for approval.
• Coordinate with the Facilities team on seating changes, office expansion, structured cabling, meeting-room audiovisual systems, CCTV, and access control.

6. Documentation and Continuous Improvement

• Maintain network diagrams, standard operating procedures, runbooks, asset registers, and configuration records.
• Automate repetitive IT administration tasks using PowerShell and other scripting tools.
• Collaborate with IT teams at other locations to standardise tools, processes, and configurations.
• Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, IT service delivery, automation, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or system engineering; the role overview specifies 7+ years.
• Experience independently supporting an office or site with 150 or more users.
• Proven experience serving as a Level 2 or Level 3 escalation point and independently managing site IT operations.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Administration experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, including virtual machines, VNets, Network Security Groups, storage, and Azure Backup.
• Strong networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, Wi-Fi controllers, firewalls, and site-to-site or client VPNs.
• Experience with endpoint management using Intune or SCCM, patch management, and antivirus or EDR tools.
• Familiarity with IT service management and ticketing systems such as Freshservice, ServiceNow, or Jira Service Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as Microsoft AZ-104, MD-102, MS-102, CCNA, Fortinet NSE 4, or ITIL v4 Foundation.
• PowerShell scripting for automating user, device, and Microsoft 365 administration.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools such as PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds, or ManageEngine OpManager.
• Hands-on experience with FortiGate, Sophos, or Cisco firewalls.
• Exposure to Hyper-V, VMware, and backup solutions such as Veeam.
• Working knowledge of Linux server administration.
• Experience supporting ISO 27001 or SOC 2 audits and implementing IT security controls.
• Familiarity with CCTV, biometric access control, Microsoft Teams Rooms, and conferencing audiovisual systems.
• Experience in an IT services or software company, preferably in a growing or multi-location environment.
